During Covid, Bobby 'Slim' James (Newson) was to be a part of my Shut-In Sounds 3 record, but due to setbacks and health issues, Bobby wasn't able to send me a vocal track in time for the release. So we spoke by phone a few times, great conversations with Bobby about his life, and we decided to put it out as a single as he was able to find time to do it.
Sadly, Bobby passed before we could finish with his vocal contribution.
I present the "Bobby Slim Jam" demo.
ALL PROCEEDS will go to the Newson family.
Donations start at $2 as Bobby ALWAYS did great renditions of "Last Two Dollars" at Calumet City's Grapevine Lounge where I initially met him in the late 90s. He and his band were great to let me and my pals sit in. It meant a lot to us kids back then.
MUSICIANS: If you feel inclined/inspired, feel free to create a tribute to Bobby 'vocal' track with the instrumental. I would be happy to mix and upload here. Who's "ready to make it do what it do?"
Thanks Bobby ... Rest In Power and "Keep on down the line like engine number 9"
