I was broke and needed a fix I just needed someone to trick I can sell anything I can sell a match to a candlestick I just want what you can afford That and not a penny more You practically walked right in my door But my how the tables turned How the lessons are learned I met my match and I got burned I was mistaken I just got taken And you left a mark I should’ve known when to quit I thought I could handle it I was mistaken I just got taken And you left a mark I can feel it It’s a scar Can you see it Where you are The worst part is never what they did to you It’s how long you still let it get to you Putting life on hold, planning my attack Blink of an eye and I’m old I might get you but I can’t get it back ~ by Dan Dougherty

about

Shut-In Sounds is an experiment in music. First, I composed a batch of instrumentals. Then, I thought it'd be fun to solicit friends to lend their vocal & lyrical talents on top the instrumentals I made since we were unable to create together in person. The artists chose an instrumental that spoke to them and were given complete freedom of expression to compose their vocals as they saw fit.

All funds raised by your purchase of "Shut-In Sounds III: The Riteousness of Spring" will be split between NIVA ( National Independent Venue Association, nivassoc.org ) and CIVL ( Chicago Independent Venue League, civlchicago.com ) to help independent venues. Thank you for your donation. #saveourstages

Mastered by Alex Hall at Reliable Recorders – hallalex.com
One if my favorite Chicago drummers and engineers I've admired from afar, Alex Hall, has mastered this release! Alex runs Reliable Recorders, and has worked with some of my personal favs like The Flat Five, J.D. McPherson, Pokey LaFarge, Joel Paterson and many others.

Thank YOU. I'd like to thank the artists: Joel Ahrweiler (Mindful Music Experiment), Jim Allen, Matthew Biskie, Ryan Butterfield, Dan Dougherty, Jross Green, Patrick Gunderson, Kevin Krauss, Candice Latimer (Conduit of Humanity, Dramaglider), Todd Leiter-Weintraub, Melissa Powers, Erica Renee, Michael Shehan (Prairie Ghosts, Beach Bum Band), Gabrielle Sutton, Scott Tipping, and Clarissa Worley.

Thanks again John Condron for seeding this idea; my family for putting up with the process; Joe Kuta for audio, tech, and personal support; and Zoran Orlic for lending ears when I needed objective input. Finally, thanks to Gabrielle Sutton for the introduction to Alex Hall & thanks Alex for for making my amateur work sound professional!
